Gong Photos & Videos / O M G! 90" Paiste Earth (?) Gong at NAMM!!!!
« on: February 05, 2018, 12:04:04 AM »
Yes, and I got to briefly play it!  8) I have so many questions now but I was too excited at the time to think straight! The story I was told by the Paiste rep is that it was commissioned by some TV show that got canceled (or decided not to use it?) I assumed at first it was an 80" but was told it is 90"! I didn't specifically ask if it was an Earth gong but it looks like one to me. I only struck it about 4 times, light to medium . . . I could have easily spent hours exploring it  . . . .<swoon> . . . .

Not my gong and not my store and I haven't heard or played it but I thought someone here might be interested? $7999 (plus shipping if needed, it's in Bellevue WA USA, Seattle area)

I look at the add occasionally, but there is no way I can afford it at the moment and I keep hoping someone will buy it so I can forget about it! ;-)

Phase 1 complete!  :)

So after many years of deciding how to hang a majority of my gongs in my little studio I finally decided about a year ago to make a big pipe structure where my big  modular synth used to sit and I've finally committed to actually doing it!  ;D

The main part is done and supports the 44" chau and 36" wind gongs. The next step will be to make the two movable side wings that will hold some of the 20" through 28" gongs. And the final step will be to find places for as many of the 15" and smaller gongs as possible.

I'm so very excited to try this out but I'm trying to get ready for a modular synthesizer gig on Friday so I can't take time to make the stand yet. Shipping weight was 133 pounds.

I purchased it from Steve Weiss Music who are always a pleasure to deal with as they have top notch service and the best prices on gongs out of the USA dealers I've seen.
